  1. 2026 The Artemis II lunar flyby mission launches, marking the first crewed flight above low Earth orbit since Apollo 17 in 1972.

It was the first crewed flight beyond low Earth orbit since Apollo 17 in 1972, the first crewed flight of the NASA-led Artemis program, the first crewed flight of the Space Launch System (SLS), and the first crewed flight of the Orion spacecraft, named Integrity by the four-person crew.

    On 15 April 2026, a school shooting occurred at the Ayser Çalık Secondary School in the Onikişubat district of Kahramanmaraş Province, Turkey. İsa Aras Mersinli, a 13-year-old student enrolled at the school, shot and killed 10 people and injured 12 more. Mersinli died from hypovolemic shock after sustaining a fatal knife injury while attempting to flee the scene.

    On 18 April 2026, a mass shooting occurred in the Demiivka neighborhood of the Holosiivskyi District of Kyiv, Ukraine, when a man opened fire on his neighbours and passers-by in the street before taking hostages inside a supermarket. He was shot and killed by police in a shootout when the Rapid Operational Response Unit (KORD) stormed the supermarket. Eight people were killed, including the perpetrator, and thirteen others were injured.

  5. 2026 Shots are fired outside of the White House Correspondents' Dinner in the Washington Hilton where U.S. President Donald Trump and members of his cabinet are attending. One injury is reported and a suspect is taken into custody.

The crash involved the Argo Bromo Anggrek, a long-distance express on the Gambir–Surabaya Pasarturi route as the KA 4 service, and a Cikarang Loop Line Commuterline local on the Kampung Bandan–Cikarang as the PLB 5568A service.
