About
About Yestermark
Yestermark is a static reference site that catalogs every calendar date, every year from 1900 to today, every notable person, every decade, and every zodiac sign — cross-linked so that following a curious thread always lands you on a page worth reading.
Who runs this site
I'm the individual who builds and maintains Yestermark. It isn't a company. There are no employees, no investors, no editorial board. The work is one person, on quiet weekends, with a strong opinion about typography.
How it's built
Yestermark is a fully static site. There is no database in the request path, no JavaScript on most pages, no cookies of its own. The HTML you see has been pre-rendered and is served from Cloudflare's global edge.
The text on the editorial parts of the site is drawn from Wikipedia (licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0), structured biographical data from Wikidata (CC0), and song-chart facts from public sources. Attribution is on the sources page; the licensing terms are on the copyright page.
A note on people
Yestermark catalogs notable individuals based on globally-aggregated readership. Listing a person doesn't imply they endorse the site. If you'd prefer not to appear, email hello@yestermark.com with the URL and I'll remove or anonymize the page within seven days. No questions asked.
What it costs
About twelve dollars a year — a domain registration. The hosting, the CDN, the email forwarding, the storage, the analytics — all of those are free tiers. Yestermark is designed never to require a paid backend.
